Shum FP, Author, Trainer & Coach, graduated from University of Stirling, UK, with a Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Publishing Studies. Shum now runs her own training, coaching & publishing solutions business, “AuthorPreneur Asia”, to train, coach and help aspiring authors to become “Authorpreneurs” through the Infopreneuring & Self-Publishing Programmes.
Her first book, Publish it Yourself: Understanding self-publishing and its effects on the industry, has first been published jointly with Trafford Publishing, Canada and the 2nd edition was later published in Malaysia. It is her interest to assist writers, who are unable or choose NOT to get their work published the conventional way, to become their own publishers. Her mission is also to help people realise the importance of documenting the information that they have, whether from experience, gained knowledge, passion, own stories or other people’s stories into formats that can be shared. She hopes to help writers to become published authors, to leave their legacies behind, and to leverage on their information to realise their lifelong dreams. Everyone has their stories to be told and shared.
She also hopes to work closely with “expertise” to turn what they know into published books so that they can enhance their own credentials, having “author”ity on the subject matter and on the other hand, with the book, more people can now benefit from their expertise. She is currently working on her 2nd book on this area.
Prior to this, having worked for over 20 years in the corporate & entrepreneur world, she has since acquired strong skills, knowledge and experiences in various areas including project & event/conference management, marketing & research, database management/direct marketing, business & product development, writing & publishing-related skills.
Shum has worked in different industries including Database Consulting, HR Training and Consulting, Network Marketing, Travel and Banking. In her own capacity as consultant, she was involved in many projects including managing a major project to develop a regional marketing database for a multinational company, business representation and market research for local and international clients, business proposal and concept paper writing, conference management, process documentation, book/newsletter publishing etc. She also trains and coach corporate staff on marketing and events management areas including social media & mobile marketing, providing solutions to help corporates and entrepreneurs on their “SoLoMo” needs.
Shum has co-written a book titled Leveraging Time to Create Wealth, which is now published in Malaysia. She has also, to her credit, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Economics (2nd Upper Honours) from the University of London, majoring in Management Studies.
